International Student Success Ambassadors
About ISSA
The International Student Success Ambassadors (formerly the International Peer Mentor Program) started as an idea. It was an idea to help IU Indianapolis students from all over the world with their transition to both university and American life. At that time, we had a few volunteers who helped the Office of International Affairs welcome new students. Since its inception, seventeen years ago, international mentoring from IU Global Indianapolis has become so much more. Today, ISSA is a mentoring-based leadership opportunity and a community open to all IU Indianapolis students.
Our Mission:
The ISSA team accomplishes this mission through pre-arrival assistance, one on one mentoring, social opportunities, and cultural programming for new international students.
Who are the International Student Success Ambassadors?
ISSA attracts students from diverse backgrounds. Ambassadors are current students, both American and international students. Many of them have lived or studied abroad and understand the experience of acclimating to a new culture. Ambassadors have extensive leadership experience or exhibit the potential and qualities necessary to become outstanding leaders.
To qualify, students must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.80 and have completed at least one year of study at IU Indianapolis. Students must be in an IU Indianapolis program starting July 2024 to be a mentor for the 2024-2025 academic year.
