Urgent Care
If you have a non-emergency injury or illness that needs immediate assistance but the IU Indianapolis health center locations are closed, you can visit an Urgent Care center. They can provide many of the services that your doctor would provide and are open on evenings and weekends. The following locations are a 10-minute walk from campus, and are covered under Aetna insurance:
Healthcare Clinic at Walgreens
1530 North Meridian Street
Indianapolis, IN 46202-2307

In the United States, you must have a prescription written by a Medical Doctor to purchase many medications. If your doctor gives you a prescription (for a medication), then you need to visit a local pharmacy to purchase it. The closest pharmacies are a 10-minute walk from campus:
Walgreens
1530 North Meridian Street
Indianapolis, IN 46202-2307
(866) 825-3227CVS pharmacy

If you have a true health emergency you should go to a hospital emergency room. The emergency room nearest to campus is located in the IU Health Methodist Hospital at 1701 North Senate Blvd, near downtown Indianapolis.
You should never use an emergency room for non-emergencies. It is the most expensive health care option.
Anthem Preferred Providers
Anthem administers the IU International Student and Scholar Health Insurance. If you are seeking medical care outside of the options listed above, be sure to use health care providers in Anthem's network. These are called “Network Providers.” If you go to a provider outside the Aetna network, then your medical care will be more expensive.
Dental Care
With the Anthem Dental Complete plan, Anthem will pay for two oral exams and teeth cleanings every year. Other dental services are covered at 50%.
Dental care can be xpensive in the United States. You may save money on dental care by seeking services through the Indiana University School of Dentistry. Quality services are available under the supervision of professional licensed dentists. Visit the School of Dentistry Patient Services site »
Vision care
Anthem automatically enrolls you in the Blue View Vision plan. Receive one eye exam per year with a $20 copay, and take advantage of discounts on eyewear and more.
